Privacy policy
Current version: 18 March 2026
This privacy policy explains how Joleri Cafe Pty Ltd handles personal information collected on this website and at our cafe at 115 Beach St, Port Melbourne. The business is run by Amelia Crowe and the company registration number is ACN 746 218 953. The version you are reading was written for 2026 and it replaces the short note that used to live on a printed sheet behind the counter. We collect your name when you send the booking form or the contact form, because the floor needs a name to hold a table or answer a note.
We collect your email address so we can confirm, move, or decline a booking in writing. We collect a phone number only when you choose to type one, and we use it if a same-day change is faster as a call. We collect the service, the date, the number of people, and the words you write in the message box. If you tick the house card box on the services page, we add your name to the card list so the ninth coffee is not left to memory.
We do not ask for a bank card number, a passport, or a date of birth anywhere on this website. You pay in the cafe or when a catering tray is handed over, and that payment is taken on the in-store terminal. We do not sell personal information and we do not rent a list of guests to anyone. We do not use your details to build an advertising profile.
A booking email is read by Amelia Crowe or by the person rostered to clear the inbox that day. A food note, such as no pork or bread left off the plate, is copied onto the kitchen list for that service. House card names are kept in a book at the counter and, when you join from the website, in the same email folder we already use for bookings. We keep a booking email until the date has passed and for a while after, in case you ask what was confirmed.
In 2026 we clear routine booking emails within twelve months unless a complaint or an unpaid catering note is still open. A house card record stays while you use the card, and you can ask us to cross the name out whenever you like. Contact form messages are kept long enough to reply and to see the thread if you write again about the same visit. We do not keep those messages for marketing once the conversation is finished.
You can ask for a copy of what we hold by writing to the email address in the footer. You can ask us to correct a misspelt name or a wrong email address. You can ask us to delete a booking note, and we will do that unless we still need it for an unpaid tray or a legal claim. If we cannot delete something, we will say why in plain language rather than sending a stock refusal.
We answer privacy requests during service hours, and in 2026 that usually means within fourteen days. This website does not create an account and there is no password for you to reset. Please do not send medical histories in the form, because a brunch booking does not need them. If you mention an allergy we treat the line as a kitchen instruction, and we will also tell you that the kitchen is small and not a sealed allergy room.
Staff may use booking details only for the booking, not for personal projects and not for gossip. Access to the inbox is limited to Amelia Crowe and the two senior floor staff who cover days off. The inbox password is not shared with trial shifts or with anyone who is only in for a weekend. Paper day sheets are shredded or blacked out at the end of service instead of being left on the pass overnight.
If a laptop used for the inbox is lost, we change the password and contact anyone whose booking could be exposed. We do not deliberately send personal information to another country as a business practice. Our email provider may store messages on servers outside Australia, which we accept because a small cafe does not run its own mail server. We do not use that limit as a reason to copy the same details into extra tools.
This site does not run advertising pixels and it does not embed a map that would pass your visit to another company. The map link in the footer opens Google Maps only if you choose to follow it. The type on these pages is stored with the website, so a page load does not call a separate font service. The booking form is not a newsletter signup.
A tick for the house card is only a tick for the house card and it does not opt you into anything else. Children visit with families, but we do not knowingly collect information from a child through the website. If you believe a child has sent a form, write to us and we will delete it. We will update this page before we change what we collect, and the date at the top will move with the change.
Questions about this policy can be sent to the email in the footer or handed to a manager at 115 Beach St, Port Melbourne. You can also call the phone number in the footer during opening hours and ask for Amelia Crowe. If you are not satisfied with our reply you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, and we will say so in the same email. We would rather fix a sloppy note ourselves than make you chase it, so start with the cafe and we will answer.
